RELO Roundtable…a gathering place

The moving and storage pros at Atlas World Group have been conducting research on corporate relocation issues on an annual basis for the last four and a half decades.

The just released 45th Annual Corporate Relocation Survey marks a new milestone. It's the tenth year the study has been conducted via the Internet.

Fortunately, those interested in the in-depth results don't have to read the entire 168 pages of the comprehensive analysis. You can get a good taste for the message that the 361 respondents sent with their answers in the 30-page summary.  If lump sums are part of your relocation plan, though, be sure to take a peak at the info on page nine.

Anyone with an interest in the domestic or global relocation business, however, will want to read the entire thing – especially page 67. More than half of companies responding operate internationally.

This is the first summary released in several years that is filled with more optimistic news than pessimistic prognostications. And there's a bit of something positive – and eye-opening – for everyone contemplating a local or long distance move.

The size of the companies responding was somewhat similar. There were 115 participants (32%) from companies with less than 500 salaried employees; 136 respondents (38%) from mid-sized companies having 500-4999 salaried employees, and large enterprise firms boasting 5000 or more salaried employees (30%).

Not only does this year's survey reveal the attitudes and concerns of those doing the hiring. The responses to the different questions shows some of the changing dynamics in the workplace among those being transferred.

The results reflect the changing attitudes of individuals and families in this post-recessionary economy which will affect not only potential employers but also the material, transportation and service providers handling the logistics of both corporate and personal relocation arrangements.

What's particularly nice about all of the Atlas Corporate Relocation Surveys is that both the truncated PDF summaries and complete reports can be downloaded without being required to register.

This non-intrusive feature allows them to be consumed individually over a cup of coffee or shared and analyzed more in depth with a group of company managers or relocation consultants and professional movers.
