I've been sniffin' around your site and it seems that we share many of the same safety and compliance concerns about some of the unlicensed and unqualified TSPs that are allowed to freely advertise at virtual marketplaces like uShip.

We started this project because of an invitation RELO Roundtable received to listen to the Marketplace podcast that deals with some of the challenges that traditional moving companies are facing because of increased competition from these types of online venues.

Bedbuggers have a unique set of legal requirements for the transportation of household goods in both intra- and interstate commerce. Budget conscious shoppers who use these types of popular reverse auction advertising platforms, online bulletin boards and find-a-mover websites are supposed to have some rights under the Consumer Protection Regulations. Unfortunately, some may be lured into making bad buying decisions because of the unsubstantiated credibility of the carriers being indexed by companies like uShip.

Subjective 'feel good' feedback rating systems may be fine for selecting a restaurant, listening to title by an unknown artist, or even buying deodorant, but they shouldn't be used justify selecting a mover who's allowed to advertise at these types of venues but isn't legally licensed to operate.

One of the comments made by Matt Chasen, Founder and CEO, uShip.com, in one of the previous RoundTables: "Please decide for yourself by visiting stopillegaltrucking.com, where you will find the ramblings of a small group of disgruntled, suspended uShip members that are trying in vain to tarnish our excellent reputation." I am one of the founders of Stop Illegal Trucking and Mr. Chasen's description of our group or the efforts or the organization does not represent who we are, what we stand for, what we do, nor what we are trying to accomplish.

The mission of Stop Illegal Trucking is to provide a method for elevating the awareness level of the general public, enforcement authorities, consumer advocacy groups, and elected officials about illegal trucking activities. Stop Illegal Trucking will provide a forum available to all for the purpose of sharing information on illegal trucking activities and other topics of mutual interest. Stop Illegal Trucking will work legally and ethically while protecting the privacy of the supporters of this cause.

We do invite you to visit stopillegaltrucking.com as we are trying, as several others in the industry are, in trying to promote safety for the public thru an educational process. It is unfortunate that there are not more "old School" people like Steve Weitekamp with a belief in doing things legally and correctly. With more and more cutbacks probably coming in agencies such as FMCSA, I am concerned the problem with illegal trucking may only become worse.
