Due to a trademark infringement issue, the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) announced on December 8, 2008 that they will not longer refer to the new DOD household goods program as Families First. The new program that the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) supports will now be called the Defense Personal Property Program, or DP3.
Some quick sleuthing by The Day Companies found that the program’s name may have conflicted with the trademark rights secured in 2002 by a company also engaged in military relocations.
