More Mover Cut Backs Announced

SIRVA, the parent company of Allied Van Lines and North American Van Lines, laid off approximately two dozen employees at their Ft. Wayne, Indiana facility at the end of March.

WANE.com reported this action was taken just six months after the company announced plans to shift some operations from Chicago to Fort Wayne; a move that was to have brought an additional 240 positions to the northern Indiana town which has housed North American’s corporate headquarters for over 50 years.

Despite some encouraging signs within the real estate markets in certain parts of the country recently, the mood remains reserved in many segments of the relocation industry as reports continue to surface that companies continue to pair down their resources with these types of austerity measures.
