Correction: Senate relies on industry pros to rout out rogue movers

A law firm representing Nationwide Van Lines recently contacted me to ask that I remove their clients name and any reference to Aldo DiSorbo or his family from a recent article, Senate relies on industry pros to rout out rogue movers.

The reference included a hyperlink to the only qualified carrier included in the public search results for Nationwide Van Lines at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Household Goods Program at ProtectYourMove.gov.

Mr. DiSorbo is the Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide Relocation Services, one of four household goods carriers and move brokers being investigated by the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation probing into consumer complaints involving unscrupulous "rogue" operators.

According a press release issued by committee Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV “Thousands of consumers have complained in recent years about moving companies refusing to complete delivery until they pay exorbitant fees that were not part of the original estimates.”

In the letter the Senate committee sent to Nationwide Relocation Services, Chairman Rockefeller asked Mr. DiSorbo to “Explain your relationship, or the companies' relationship, with each of the following companies or entities. If there is a contractual relationship, provide a copy of the contract.”

Nationwide Van Lines is one of twelve companies referred to in the Senator's letter.

Since the official committee correspondence didn't specifically identify Nationwide by either a USDOT or MC number, the FMCSA link has been removed and the verbiage “ for which he or his family members are listed as principal owners” as been edited out of the ninth paragraph preceding the list.

We regret the error.

When can we get an update on the case? I understand the deadline was January 27th for those said companies on the Senates list to respond to their request for documentation.
