An introduction to relocation

As more and more people drop by RELO Roundtable to collect information about moving, it becomes increasingly apparent many don't have a clue what they're getting into.
Judging from the search terms used to get here, the articles perused while visiting, and the links being followed when they leave, this is probably the first time that many visitors or inexperienced managers have had to arrange a personal move or job related relocation entirely on their own.
Recently many land on When ‘Arrange it Yourself’ is the relocation guidance, that was prepared by American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) President Linda Bauer Darr for the December, 2009 Household Goods Moving and Storage Issues edition of MOBILITY magazine. It was reprinted with permission from the Worldwide ERC®.
The article's popularity at both RELO Roundtable and the Moving and Relocation page at Examiner.com hints of the planning dilemmas and financial consternation facing many who absorb the timely info. Darr's expert insight speaks to the growing concern among many uninformed consumers and inexperienced HR professionals or government administrators of making a wrong choice (or offering the wrong advice) while planning their domestic or international relocation.
About 70% of the guests who visit RELO Roundtable drop by to simply collect bits and pieces of information. These folks are trying their best to do their due-diligence to arrange the best value for their relocation budget. Despite their research, however, most can't quickly or easily find the info they think they need at most commercial websites.
That's not necessarily the fault of the service providers who naturally prefer a committed sale over a casual consultation. Most of these people aren't ready to be sold – just yet!
Many have been besieged with multiple calls and emails from aggressive sales people that resulted when they chose to complete a convenient online request for 'free' moving quotes at one or more of the popular moving lead aggregators or slick, well optimized company web portals.
Some readers are afraid of being ripped off! The household goods moving industry doesn't make it easy for inexperienced buyers to recognize or differentiate the quality and value of individual service providers. All the ads – it seems – are focused on price. There is very little detail about what defines quality or how to measure it.
That's why a new video, Intro to Relocation, just introduced by MoveOne, Inc. is so effective. It's simple, fun and informative yet it doesn't try to burden it's content with an aggressive sales approach. In fact, the viewer isn't even 'pitched' until the last few seconds. It's just one of several very creative, and, at times, very beautiful videos that MoveOne has recently posted at their website.
Unfortunately, the message is designed for a potentially inexperienced corporate buyer involved in international mobility issues and not an overwhelmed individual transferee or small business owner who's trying to muddle through the process of movin' on their own.
