Last week Secretary of Transportation LaHood floated the idea of a mileage-based user tax user tax which the Obama administration promptly squelched. What’s important to note, however, is that Ray took a conversation that’s already been started to the public.

The idea is not all that radical – especially to truckers. Some states already have small-scale, economically viable experiments in place using commercial payment options like PrePass and EZ Pass.
